Several years ago a member of the Dress Shop Texas User Group called Terry and asked her if she would have a workshop for Dress Shop™ users. Dress Shop™ is a patternmaking software program that everyone in the user group owned. She said, “If you have one, they’ll come.” And come they did!
Eventually Terry was scheduling monthly workshops, and they did come from all over the United States and Canada to attend. Most didn’t even know where Longview, Texas, was but they came anyway. Terry increased her offerings from basic workshops to having intermediate and advanced workshops.
The name “So Let’s Sew” came into being as Terry’s official company name because at the workshops, after the morning's announcements and instructions were completed for that day, she always began the day’s sewing with, “Okay, so let’s sew!” and then the actual sewing began. When she started thinking of a name for her fledgling sewing enterprise, that name just seemed to be right.
Today’s So Let’s Sew workshops are for all sewing enthusiasts who want to learn garment construction, achieve an excellent fit and design flattering lines for their garments whether their patterns are hand drafted, software generated, or commercial. Terry is now a Certified Palmer/Pletsch Fit Instructor and conducts classes and workshops using the Palmer/Pletsch method of fitting.
